Go hiking in the

And you don’t need to go that far. Our resident hiking
enthusiasts at Arlyn suggest adding Whyte Lake and Lighthouse Park in West Van,
and the Twin Falls and suspension bridge at Lynn Canyon Park in North Van to
your local hiking to-do list. The three parks are ideal for a unwinding with a light
hike or afternoon picnic.

We checked out the now famous goat cheese farm on Salt Spring earlier this year, and haven’t had that much fun since a Grade school field trip.
Take a trip to Tofino
The West Coast of Vancouver Island is a bit of a trek (about three hours on
the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo and another three across the width of
the island) but worth it if you have the time. The sprawling beaches are
beautiful in the summertime and the setting for a different kind of unbridled
beauty in the winter — when off-season rates may sweeten the deal.
Hide out in Whistler
Just
an hour and a half away on Highway 99 and full of activities for those who
prefer to recharge in nature — but not too
much nature — Whistler offers waterfall hikes, gondola rides, museums and
ample places to eat and spend money, if shopping provides your preferred form
of relaxation.
